Centre For Addiction And Mental Health

Children’s Mental Health Ontario

Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO), founded in 1972 as the Ontario Association of Children’s Mental Health Centres (OACMHC) and renamed in 1999, represents and supports the providers of child and youth mental health treatment services throughout Ontario including more than 80 community-based children’s mental health centres that serve some 150,000 children and their families annually. The CMHO has a child-focused emphasis reflecting a recognition that children’s mental health centres are one part of comprehensive system of health and social services. Any individual or organization committed to CMHO’s goal of a sustainable system of mental health services for Ontario’s youth can now become a member. Epilepsy Support Centre

Despite epilepsy being one of the most common neurological disorders in Canada, knowledge about the disorder is generally low. This lack of awareness results in stigmatization of people living with epilepsy, compounding the challenges individuals face. To combat this problem, the Epilepsy Support Centre has developed a series of education programs, available on the website.

L’Arche

From the organization’s website: ‘In L’Arche, people who have developmental disabilities and those who come to assist share life and daytime activities together in family-like settings that are integrated into local neighbourhoods. L’Arche in Canada has nearly 200 homes and workshops or day programs. These are grouped into what L’Arche calls ”communities.” There are 27 communities of L’Arche located across Canada from Cape Breton to Vancouver Island and 2 projects that hope soon to become communities. OPHEA: Ontario Physical And Health Education Association

OPHEA provides quality programs, services and training to schools and communities to enable children and youth to lead healthy active lives. Ophea’s high quality programs and services can help your school community address a variety of health related topics and all of the components of a Healthy School identified in the Government of Ontario’s Foundations for a Healthy School framework. Ophea has developed a number of Health and Physical Education Curriculum Supports which include Ophea’s H&PE curriculum support resources, workshops, and consultations designed to increase the knowledge and skills of educators. Some resources are downloadable and free of charge.

Parasport Ontario

The Mission of ParaSport Ontario is to support the development and promotion of the Paralympic movement in Ontario. ParaSport Ontario promotes parallel opportunities in sport for athletes with a physical disability. Parasport Ontario (PO) affiliates a variety of ParaSport Clubs and more than 1800 on a yearly basis. These athletes are given the opportunity to compete in Regional and Provincial Level competitions. PO works in collaboration with Host Communities and 12 Provincial Multi-Sport Organizations and Provincial Sport Organizations in delivering Summer and Winter Multi-ParaSport Games as well as ParaSport Expos.PO is also very proud of its development programs that include “Ready Willing and Able” and a “Community Sport Development Program”. Through these programs, PO delivers introductory sport sessions to athletes, coaches and officials throughout Ontario, and partners with communities to develop new ParaSport Clubs for athletes with physical disabilities. In addition, ParaSport Ontario works with Ontario municipalities to develop Accessible Sport Councils.

Tourette Syndrome Association Of Ontario

The Tourette Syndrome Association of Ontario is committed to supplying compassionate support in the Tourette Syndrome Community through detail to leadership, management, innovation and continual learning. The Association is committed to delivering Tourette Syndrome services which are sensitive to the needs of the Tourette Syndrome Community, involving collaborative partnerships and team work to overcome all challenges.
